Michigan Tech’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) is an invaluable experience for students seeking to learn the process of research in a professional environment, develop new techniques for research, and earn money at the same time. Students spend anywhere from 7 to 14 weeks cultivating an individual research project under the guidance of an MTU faculty mentor, gaining valuable experience in modern research techniques, and planning their own strategy to answer a scientific question. At the end of the program, students participate in the Undergraduate Expo (poster session and oral presentation) the following spring. During the process of conducting research during SURF, students will learn critical thinking and communication skills crucial to any academic or work environment.

The SURF Web site is currently under development.
More information will be available upon it's completion.
