Computers not reserved by individuals or classes. Computers are first come first serve. Food and drink allowed. Game players must surrender to other users. Maximum of 350 prints a term.

You have a pre-assigned username, e-mail address, MTU ID # and ISO password that gives you access to computing services at MTU. These follow the
standard naming conventions explained below. There may be
exceptions—if you encounter problems, ask your lab consultant or
system administrator for assistance.
Your username is…
- “1st initial + 2nd initial + 1st six letters of last name”
- Example: Edward George Greenleaf
- Username = “eggreenl”
(Yours is listed on the critical card as your “UserID”)
Your MTU ID # is…
- Generally your "M number"
- MTU ID # = "M12345678"
Your e-mail address is…
- “username”@mtu.edu
- Example: Edward George Greenleaf
- E-mail address = “eggreenl@mtu.edu”

Your e-mail and machine log on password is…
For Windows:
● Set by default to your MTU ID #
● Example: MTU ID # = "M12345678"
● Password = "M12345678"
For Mac:
● Your ISO login
● This is the password you use to access your Huskymail
● You will not be prompted to change your password
For security reasons, you will need to change your password the first time you login and periodically in the future as well.
Logging-in to your computer
For PC computers
1 – Type your username at the “User name:” prompt

– Type your password at the “Password:” prompt
3 – Verify “ccli” is entered at the “Domain:” prompt
4 – Click “OK”
5 – Click "Yes" to retain individual settings
For Macintosh computers
1 – Type your username at the “Login:” prompt
2
– Type your password at the “Password:” prompt
3 – Click "Continue"
Changing your computer password
Log-in to Telnet using your old password
1 – Open the Telnet application
2 – Select "file menu: new connection"
3 – Type"login.hu.mtu.edu" as host name; click "connect"
4 – Type your username at the "login:" prompt
5 – Type your current password at the "Password:" prompt
Type a command in Telnet
6 – Type "passwd" at the "username@ginger:" prompt
Follow the prompts to change your password
7 – Type your current password at the prompt
8 – Type a new password a the prompt
9 – Re-type your new password at the prompt to confirm it
Accessing the World Wide Web
For PC computers
Select the "Netscape" icon from the start menu that is located at the bottom left hand corner of the screen
For Macintosh computers
Select "GO: Applications: Safari" from the top menu bar
Logging-off from your computer
Choose "logout" from the Apple or Programs Icons
