standard naming conventions explained below. There may be
exceptions—if you encounter problems, ask your lab consultant or
system administrator for assistance.

- “1st initial + 2nd initial + 1st six letters of last name”
- Example: Edward George Greenleaf
- Username = “eggreenl”
(Yours is listed on the critical card as your “UserID”)

For security reasons, you should change your password the first time you login and periodically in the future as well.
Logging-in to your computer
1–Press the “CTRL” + “ALT” + “DEL” keys simultaneously
2–Type your username at the “User name:” prompt
3–Type your password at the “Password:” prompt
4–Verify “BIO” is entered at the “Domain:” prompt
5–Click “OK”
Changing your computer password
You may change your password at any time. Once
logged in, hit Control-Alt-Delete, then choose “Change
Password”:
1–Type your current password at the prompt
2–Type a new password at the prompt
It is strongly recommended that you create a password with numbers, letters using different cases, and symbols.
3–Re-type your new password at the prompt to confirm it
4–Click “OK”
Accessing the World Wide Web
1-From the Start choose Firefox at the top of the left column
2- You may also use Mozilla or Internet Explorer
Logging-off from your computer
1–click Start, then Logoff, to logoff the system.
Memory and Web Pages
All students are provided 1 gigabyte of storage
capacity. All students also can develop their own web
pages. A separate document provides guidance on basic steps for
building a web page; also see departmental web page
