Getting Out [top]

Michigan Tech hosts several performances and cultural activities. There are several ways of learning about events occurring:

Michigan Tech's main page will contain a short list of events and news

The Michigan Tech calendar of events lists several upcoming events
Great Events and the Student Entertainment
Board
(SEB) publishes a calendar for many events

Central Ticket Office posts a calendar of upcoming events and how to purchase tickets
• The Memorial Union Board holds several events throughout the school year
Local newspapers (Michigan Tech Lode, Daily Mining Gazette, Daily Bull) lists upcoming events
The Rozsa Center for the Performing Arts, located on campus, holds many different types of events
The Calumet Theatre, which is located about 15 miles north of Houghton in Calumet
WMTU, the Michigan Tech college radio station will broadcast upcoming events on 91.9 FM

Movie Theatres [top]

The Film Board is an Michigan Tech student organization which hosts various films in Fisher Hall Room 135 at a very economical price, especially at student prices with a Tech Express ID card.
There are two theatres in Houghton and one theatre in Hancock.
Club Indigo in Calumet hosts a dinner and a movie on most Fridays.

Bowling and Billiards [top]

• The Memorial Union Building houses a bowling lanes and billiards. As a student of Michigan Tech, you pay a MUB fee that entitles you to free services on the weekends. Check the website for more information.
The Mine Shaft and Rock House Hardwood Grille in Houghton featuring 18 bowling lanes, a 177 seat restaurant and bar, a full-scale video arcade, pro-shop and a state-of-the-art light and sound show.
Most other bars provide at least one pool table: (short list) Douglas House [1], Downtowner [2], Monte Carlo [1], B&B [1], Uphill 41 [4],
Shuttes Bar in Calumet has a shuffle board.

If you would like cable TV and or an Internet connection:

In your dorm room or at Daniel Heights (on-campus): the service is through the MTU telecommunications Department.
If you live off-campus, the provider is Charter Communications. If you are staying in, WMTU provides a variety of music and entertainment broadcasts.
