Head north on US41 to Hancock, but go straight instead of turning into downtown. Take a right at the light & you're on your way!

Next 1.4 miles - Beautiful overlook of the Portage and the MTU campus on your right. Stop and check it out.

Next 0.5 miles - Quincy Mine has tours throughout the week.

Next 10.2 miles - You should be at the first light in Calumet. You can either go straight and head on to Kearsarge, or take a left. If you take a left, you'll see a sign for "Coppertown USA" when you enter the old part of town. The historic Calumet Theatre is on your right. Take a left on Elm St and a right onto 7th Street and you'll see a stone arch with a sign that says "Italian Hall." There is an interesting story on the sign. (Head back to the light and turn left toward Kearsarge)

Next 2.8 miles - In Kearsarge there is a concrete battleship build by WPA in the 1940's.

Next 8.6 miles - Keweenaw's Snow Gauge. Stop and have your picture taken. Record snowfall: 390.4 inches in 1978- 79.

In the winter, the yard is used to feed the deer. Stop and see Lake Shore Drive. Continue on M26 headed north.

Next 3.5 miles - Jacob's Falls. A motel once stood on the left and was destroyed by the falls. Just ahead a few feet is a MUST stop. The treats are "Heavenly."

Next 1.5 miles - Sand Dunes. Pull off to the left and take a picture of the wonderful view. Remember, sand dunes are protected by Federal Law.

Next 1.5 miles - Entering Eagle Harbor. Go straight to the Eagle Harbor Lighthouse and Museum. Leaving the lighthouse, turn left and stay on M26 North.

Next 3.9 miles - Lake Bailey: outhouse stop!

Next 0.8 miles - Stop and part at Silver River. Across the highway follow a path into the woods for an easy walk that's really cooling on a hot day.

Next 8.5 miles - Stay right and ascend Brockway Mountain. Great view from the top, a definite picture time. In the winter, the road is groomed for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Down the other side of the mountain is a scenic overlook of Copper Harbor. There are several little shops in this town to pick up a souvenir.

Next 2.7 miles - Be sure to go to the historic Fort Wilkins. No fee if you have a state park sticker. Turn right when leaving the park. You have now reached the end of US41 (or the beginning if you prefer). Get a picture of yourself by the sign that states: Miami 1,990 miles. Head back the way you came for some more interesting scenery.

Next 0.8 miles - You will see a sign on the left side of the road that says Estevant Pines and Manganese Falls. The falls are just off the road on the left. There are trails (and a little bridge) that take you all around it. Once you reach Estevant Pines, you have to hike a ways, but you can see the oldest trees in Michigan and it's definitely worth it. Head back out to the main road and take a left. Then turn left at the first blinking light (heading south on US41).

Next 6.3 miles - Take a left and head towards Bete de Grise/Lac La Belle.

Next 4.3 miles - You have the option of heading left to Bete de Grise (a great place to watch the sunrise) or heading right toward Gay. Take the right toward Gay.
Next 0.6 miles - Haven Park and waterfall are right off the road. Here you can take a breather or climb up the waterfall if you so desire.

Next 6.6 miles - You'll see a sign that says: View of Keweenaw Point. If you look to your left you will see the tip of the Keweenaw.

Next 5.9 miles - Brunette Park is on the left. If you brought your suit, this is a great sandy beach. If not, you still need to check this beach out. Here the bottom of the lake is a sheet of sandstone from early volcanic activity. It's almost like a swimming pool bottom!

Next 8.5 miles - Stamp sands and the very small town of Gay. Follow the road you are on and you will pass another interesting sight just down the road… then follow the signs to Lake Linden.
